I am going to start posing the questions on the respect and responsibility school culture survey (see tab at the top of the page) to my students this week, so stay tuned... (Great idea, Grace!!)
Interesting survey results from one of my 4th grade classes. As a group, they agreed with the statements on the survey (indicating the school is a positive environment.) Though the following statements were scored with less agreement...
- People in this school are generally polite. - I feel respected at this school. - Students solve conflicts without insults or fighting.
I will be surveying several other classes tomorrow (including the other 4th grade class.) Stay tuned for more results...
Since I can't post to your "Perspectives" section, I thought I would post here. Can you find more updated information than 1998 (publication date in “Perspectives” section)? I ask because this class is about contemporary issues and a lot has occurred within the field of education between the 1990s and now (2010s). However, you are doing a remarkable job with surveying several 4th grade classes (current data) regarding school culture/climate. Way to go, Erica!
I also cannot figure out how to comment in other locations. I wanted say I really liked the solutions you offer and back up with research. They are highly interesting and very manageable. Thank you for sharing these insights!
